The Department has developed a new API (application programming interface) for the efficient distribution of the monthly PBS schedule data. The PBS API contains the full dataset of the PBS Schedule, including details of the medicines subsidised by the Australian Government and the conditions for their prescribing and dispensing. The PBS Schedule and the data in the PBS API is updated on the first day of every month.
The PBS API will soon replace all existing data formats (XML and Text files) and users of existing PBS Schedule data files are encouraged to move to the new PBS API as soon as practical. Guidance information can be found in the links below. For users who don’t require the functionality of the PBS API, the ‘PBS API CSV files’ contain all the PBS API endpoints (tables) in CSV format (comma-separated values).

PLEASE NOTE: ALL existing forms of PBS Schedule data currently published will soon cease. 1 June 2025 will be the last PBS schedule for which data in existing formats will be released. From this date onwards, PBS schedule data will be made available only via the PBS API and PBS API CSV files.

PBS Offline

The downloadable version of this website has been developed to enable you to use the Schedule of Pharmaceutical Benefits when you are not connected to the internet. It functions as a snapshot of the PBS website that is saved to your computer to be accessed at your leisure.
To keep PBS offline up to date, it should be downloaded fresh with the regular Schedule update that occurs on the first of each month.
Warning: These files are large and may take considerable time to download depending on your internet connection.

Once downloaded open the file and follow the on-screen instructions to install.
Mac Installation Instructions
Once downloaded please follow the below instructions:
- Use extraction software to extract the files to your desktop, or other specified location;
- A PBS icon will appear on your desktop
- Double click the icon to launch PBS Offline
