Updates to the HTA Review Research and analysis papers collection: Draft HTA expert papers published
Page last updated: 25 October 2023
The following draft papers developed to support the deliberations of the HTA Review Reference Committee have been published on the HTA Review Research and Analysis papers webpage:
- HTA Methods: Determination of the Population, Intervention Comparator, and Outcome (PICO). This paper conducts an international comparison of HTA pre-assessment processes and methods for determining the PICO criteria. The results are compared with analogous processes used in Australia.
- Clinical Evaluation Methods in HTA. This paper examines the different approaches to methods used in HTA for including and evaluating different types of evidence, which includes the evaluation of clinical effectiveness and safety, and any variations applied for specific technologies or populations. This paper also examines methods for weighting benefits and for incorporating consumer evidence. Methods were included if they were from developed economies and jurisdictions with similar health care systems to Australia.
These draft papers have been prepared by Adelaide Health Technology Assessment (AHTA) for the Department of Health and Aged Care to support the HTA Review.
The HTA Policy and Methods Review is informed by papers analysing contemporary research, relevant methodologies and purchasing practices used by comparable international jurisdictions, and applicability to the Australian context.
