Report on the impact of PBS reform on Government expenditure, consumers, industry, pharmacy, wholesalers and prescribers.
In accordance with the implementing legislation for the 2007 PBS reforms, the Minister has laid before the Parliament the report The Impact of PBS Reform. The report details the impact of the various aspects of PBS reform, including the impact on Government expenditure, consumers, industry, pharmacy, wholesalers and prescribers. The report also considers the possible future impact of PBS Reform.

A consulting organisation, PricewaterhouseCoopers, was engaged by the Department to provide an independent analysis on the impact of PBS reform. The PricewaterhouseCoopers report covers the impact of PBS reform on Government expenditure, consumers, industry and the pharmaceutical supply chain. The key findings and the results of the modeling undertaken by the consultant have been incorporated into the Minister’s report. The executive summary of the PricewaterhouseCoopers report was also appended to the Minister’s report at Appendix A above.
