Generic Medicines Working Group meeting – 9 August 2018

The Generic Medicines Working Group (GMWG) met in Canberra on 9 August 2018.
Attendees included representatives from the Generic and Biosimilar Medicines Association (GBMA), the pharmaceutical industry, and the Department of Health.
Members noted the outcomes and actions from the previous GMWG meeting and were provided with an update on the work of the PBS Transparency and Efficiencies, Biosimilar Policy, Uptake Drivers for Generic and Biosimilar Medicines and the Pricing Supply and Viability Subgroups.
Members noted that the business as usual Cost Recovery Implementation Statement reflecting the standard regulated CPI increase to fees for 2018-19 is available on the Department of Health’s website.
Members were provided with an update on the International Generic and Biosimilar association Conference from GBMA.
The GBMA provided members with an update on the progress of the Biosimilar Education Grant, which was awarded earlier this year.
The GMWG will reconvene before the end of 2018 in Sydney.
