Page last updated: 18 March 2021
The Generic Medicines Working Group (GMWG) was established as a requirement of the Strategic Agreement, entered into in May 2015 by the Australian Government and the Generic and Biosimilar Medicines Association (GBMA). In April 2017, the Australian Government and the GBMA entered into a compact to extend the Strategic Agreement by two years, until July 2022.
The GMWG was established as a mechanism to discuss and develop policies to increase the awareness and confidence in and the use of generic medicines in Australia.
