Updates to the HTA Policy and Methods Review Reference Committee – October 2023
Page last updated: 11 October 2023
The draft paper Horizon Scanning and Early Assessment developed to support the deliberations of the HTA Review Reference Committee, has been published on the HTA Review Research and Analysis papers webpage.
The draft paper Horizon Scanning and Early Assessment has been prepared by Adelaide Health Technology Assessment (AHTA) for the Department of Health and Aged Care to support the HTA Review. It examines the different approaches to Horizon Scanning and Early Assessment of Health Technologies with reference to the involvement of stakeholders (including consumers, clinicians, industry and academia), how information is used, the benefits, risks and limitations of the approaches, and the applicability of international processes to the Australian setting. This paper considers three types of early assessment: early value proposition, early scientific advice, and early value assessment.
The HTA Policy and Methods Review is informed by papers analysing contemporary research, relevant methodologies and purchasing practices used by comparable international jurisdictions, and applicability to the Australian context. Draft papers developed to support the deliberations of the HTA Review Reference Committee will be progressively published as they become available to help facilitate Consultation 2.
Updates to the HTA Review, including the availability of papers, will be notified through PBS News. You may wish to subscribe to PBS News and Updates to keep up to date with the HTA Review.
