Biosimilar Policy Subgroup - 13 March 2019 - Communique

The jointly represented Biosimilar Policy Subgroup of the Generic Medicines Working Group and the Access to Medicines Working Group met on 13 March 2019. Attendees included representatives from the Generic and Biosimilar Medicines Association (GBMA), Medicines Australia, industry and the Department of Health (the department).
Members discussed the evaluation of the effectiveness of uptake drivers and legal issues in disclosing brand-level PBS data.
The department provided members with an update on active ingredient prescribing and biosimilar policy matters.
The GBMA provided members with an update on the progress of the Biosimilar Education Grant activities and on Biosimilar Awareness Week.
The next meeting of the Biosimilar Policy Subgroup will be scheduled in consultation with members.
