Generic Medicines Working Group (GMWG) - Biosimilar Policy Subgroup Communique - 4 July 2019

The jointly represented Biosimilar Policy Subgroup of the Generic Medicines Working Group and the Access to Medicines Working Group met on 4 July 2019. Attendees included representatives from the Generic and Biosimilar Medicines Association (GBMA), Medicines Australia, industry and the Department of Health (the department).

Members discussed uptake drivers for a number of biosimilars and possible approaches to presenting data on biosimilar use.

The department provided members with an update on biosimilar policy matters and on active ingredient prescribing.

The GBMA provided members with an update on the progress of the Biosimilar Education Grant activities.

The next meeting of the Biosimilar Policy Subgroup is scheduled for November 2019.
